New Story offers a residential environment and a host of therapeutic services designed to help children achieve success while dealing with serious and complex challenges. Part-time, weekend shifts available for RESIDENT ADVISORS. The Resident Advisor guides and assists youth to live and function as within the community. This position is also responsible for participating in the development and implementation of individual program plans and coordination for the provision of specialized services. The Resident Advisor will report to the Assistant Program Director. Key functions of the position include: Provide assistance with activities of daily living, personal finances, cooking, personal futures planning, and other household responsibilities. Provide counseling and guidance to effectively deal with problems and develop positive relationships. Provide support and guidance to engage in social and leisure activities, access community resources, and to develop/strengthen problem solving skills. Assist in the development and implementation of individual service plans. Utilize safe crisis management techniques to manage situations involving agitated and/or hostile behaviors. Orient new individuals and assist them with making the adjustment into the house. Gain an understanding of relevant personal, familial, social, vocational/educational and cultural data on all new admissions. Assist with food shopping and routine cleaning of the residence. Transport individuals in company vehicle.
