Nonprofit Support Caregiver - Support Associate

We are seeking flexible and resourceful individuals to assist clients who live on their own as well as in our residences to achieve the highest level of independence in daily living. As a Support Associate with The Arc Northwest Indiana, you are a mentor, not a babysitter. You will use your creativity and sense of innovation to assist clients in the accomplishment of daily independent living tasks through a variety of educational strategies such as hand-over-hand demonstrations, role-playing, pictures and more. Each client has an Individual Program Plan and as someone who spends a great deal of time with the clients, your input on their progress is highly important. You will also work with other staff members to evaluate and revise client plans to best help them meet their goals and maintain accurate records to gauge client progress and record medication changes. Support Associate – Nonprofit Support Caregiver  Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Support Associate with The Arc Northwest Indiana, you will assist clients to purchase food and work on financial skills, plan and prepare meals, do laundry, perform personal hygiene and grooming tasks and oversee other skill development activities. Different shifts are available during the week or weekend. Additional responsibilities of the Support Associate include: Safely administering the proper dosages of prescription medication to clients Transporting clients to medical appointments, community events and social outings to help them meet socialization goals Picking Supported Living clients up from their jobs or The Arc Northwest Indiana center Acting as an integral part of the Residential Services and Supported Living teams Participating in clients’ Behavioral Support Plans by helping them adhere to the plan and documenting their progress Participating in the STAR continuous improvement process and the ISO Quality Management System Appropriately responding to any emergency situations Contributing to overall client well-being and development
